Spot's coverage does not depend on pre-existing conditions

Unlike most pet insurance plans, Spot's coverage does not exclude pre-existing conditions. Some health conditions are not covered by the policy. For instance, dental disease, hip dysplasia, intervertebral disk disease, and other hereditary conditions aren't covered. Additional exclusions include orthodontic and dental procedures, as well as expenses for daycare and boarding. Insurance does not cover cosmetic treatments or bilateral conditions.

Spot's policy on pre-existing conditions does not cover arthritis treatment. The insurance company defines a "pre-existing" condition as any medical condition that existed before Spot's plan was issued. Unless the condition has been cured, insurance companies will not cover arthritis treatment. Although there is no age limit for this policy, customers must pay a deductible at least $2,500 to cover any vet expenses.
