Geico Flood Insurance covers up to 20% a home's worth
Geico's flood policy is a popular choice for home owners. However, it does not cover flood damages. The company covers plumbing, electrical, and air conditioning systems inside your home, but it doesn't cover personal items or carpeting in the basement. It also won't cover your home if it's built on pilings or stilts.
Geico has an affordable option to flood insurance. Flood insurance may cover up to 20% damage from flooding to a home. If you are temporarily evacuated from your home, this coverage may also cover additional living expenses. If someone is hurt at home, the company can offer up to $2,500 in reimbursements.

It doesn't include cosmetic improvements to basements
Flood insurance does not cover any cosmetic upgrades to basements. It does not cover certain other structures such as wells, decks or swimming pools. It is important to check with your insurer if any of these structures will be added.
Water can be removed from your basement to reduce damage. You must first turn off the electricity and gas running through your basement. Before you enter the basement, make sure that your belongings are safe. Then you can salvage as many personal items as possible. You need to do everything you can to minimize the damage, as most of your possessions may not be covered under an NFIP plan.
It does not include carpeting and new furniture.
Flood insurance is something you should consider if your home is at risk. Flood insurance does NOT cover cosmetic upgrades like new furniture or carpeting. It doesn't even cover new bathtubs or sinks. Standard homeowners insurance doesn't cover flood damage to trees, plants, decks, or other structures. It does not cover swimming pools, hot tubs, wells, or hot tubs.
It takes a 30 day waiting period
Standard NFIP policy covers a 30-day wait period for flood insurance policies. There are exceptions. Flood insurance is not required for those who live or work in high-risk areas. You can also purchase flood insurance policies in conjunction with your mortgage purchase.

If you already have homeowners insurance with a different company, you can avoid the 30-day waiting period by changing your existing policy. In most cases, however, a mortgage lender will require that your policy be changed or your property declared a special risk.
